Kind of Sneakers to Wear

Having the right kind of sneakers while playing basketball is real important. You are gonna be one of those players that had to learn the hard way. You might be one of those players that broke there ankles and later on brought Ankle Insurance Co. So don't make the mistake I did.

Yes, I Shawn did break my ankles one time. I thought I had it under control till my opponent came with a nice crossover, and left me on the floor in pain, and embarrassed.

So let me tell you what kind of sneakers you should be playing with, so you can feel safe and secure on the court.

You want to have a sneaker that is comfortable to your feet. I have experienced playing and aching because my shoes weren't comfortable, and that resulted in a loss.

You will want a sneaker that has a lot of ankle support. NO LOW CUT SNEAKERS! I REPEAT NO LOW CUT SNEAKERS! Get a high top sneaker, so it will protect more likely protect your ankles.

If you don't want to be injured for a good two weeks I suggest you follow my tips.

**What are some techniques you use so you won't get your ankles broken?

How To Crossover Dribble

You want to learn how to get your defender going the opposite way? Do you want to possibly break your defender ankles and leave them on the floor?? Well the crossover is for you. It takes time to master, but keep practicing, and I guarantee you will nail it. So lets get right to it.

The objective of having a successful crossover is to get your defender going the opposite way. If you get that to happen no body is temporarily guarding you, and that gives you time to drive to the basket or a mid-range shot.

Making a crossover requires a good amount of balance. The crossover is so fast that you will need how to know how stay balanced so you wont trip, and you save the embarrassment.

You will need to have a good level of ball handling to successfully complete a crossover.

* When attempting a crossover make sure your shoe laces are securely tight, because you don't want to trip over your laces, and again save the embarrassment.

Time to get started:

1) First you want to keep the basketball in your dominant hand

2) Take it slow. Approach your defender slowly.

3) Keep a decent amount of space between the both of you.

4) Get your defender scared a little before they experience a deadly crossover. Look your opponent dead in the eye.

5) You want to quickly shift all your body weight to your dominant side, being if its your right or your left side.

6) When you see your defender leaning you want to quickly bounce it to the opposite hand.

*Crossover doesn't necessarily mean you have to break their ankles, it simply means you got the defender leaning and off balance.*

How to Dribble Correctly

One of the key essentials of basketball is knowing how to dribble, and having ball handle. You need to know how to dribble to maneuver your way around defenders, and simply because you need it to get to where your spot is, being if it is by the three point line, in the paint, or if you are driving for an easy lay-up. The player that needs the most dribbling experience on the team is the point guard. Knowing that they bring the ball across the court they need to know how to dribble, and make plays so they can find an open man. In this post I will tell you the fundamentals of dribbling. In later posts I will tell you how to feel comfortable dribbling and so on. So lets get started.

1. To dribble the basketball you want to use the fingertips of your hands. You should not use your palm because that will just slap the basketball in all different locations.

2. You do not want to look at the ball while dribbling. If you are looking at the ball while dribbling you wont see where your defender is about to reach in for the ball.

3. You want to use the hand you are not dribbling as a tool. Think of that hand/arm as a shield. You want to use it so you can block your defenders hand from reaching in and getting the steal.

4. The lower you dribble the better chance you have it from getting stolen by the defender.

*What You DON'T want to do:

1. You don't want to dribble with the palm of your hand. If you do dribble with your palm you won't have complete control of the basketball.

2. You don't want to look at the ball while you dribble. If you do, you are much likely to get the ball stolen from you.

3. You don't want to dribble the basketball in front of you. You need to dribble the basketball by your side, so you can defend it better, and have better control over it.

4. You don't want to dribble the basketball to high. If you dribble it too high you will most likely get called for a carry. When you dribble to high the defender has a better chance of getting a steal.
