How To Crossover Dribble
You want to learn how to get your defender going the opposite way? Do you want to possibly break your defender ankles and leave them on the floor?? Well the crossover is for you. It takes time to master, but keep practicing, and I guarantee you will nail it. So lets get right to it.
The objective of having a successful crossover is to get your defender going the opposite way. If you get that to happen no body is temporarily guarding you, and that gives you time to drive to the basket or a mid-range shot.
Making a crossover requires a good amount of balance. The crossover is so fast that you will need how to know how stay balanced so you wont trip, and you save the embarrassment.
You will need to have a good level of ball handling to successfully complete a crossover.
* When attempting a crossover make sure your shoe laces are securely tight, because you don't want to trip over your laces, and again save the embarrassment.
Time to get started:
1) First you want to keep the basketball in your dominant hand
2) Take it slow. Approach your defender slowly.
3) Keep a decent amount of space between the both of you.
4) Get your defender scared a little before they experience a deadly crossover. Look your opponent dead in the eye.
5) You want to quickly shift all your body weight to your dominant side, being if its your right or your left side.
6) When you see your defender leaning you want to quickly bounce it to the opposite hand.
*Crossover doesn't necessarily mean you have to break their ankles, it simply means you got the defender leaning and off balance.*
